MOVING BALANCE

MOVING BALANCE

Sigrún Ólafsdóttir

SOLO SHOW

April 3, 2025 to July 17, 2025

ARTBASE Wiesbaden

In countless experiments with different materials, Sigrún Ólafsdóttir creates sculptures that express the fact that everything is always in motion. Her art captures the intersection of stability and fragility, the moment of transition from one position to another. Her works always remind us that a state of equilibrium only ever represents a momentum between different forces at work. The Icelandic artist knows how to express the fragility of equilibrium in ever new and unique ways.

Sigrún Ólafsdóttir, born in Reykjavík, Iceland, lives and works alternately in Saarbrücken and her native city.

She studied sculpture at the Myndlista og Handíðaskóli, Reykjavík, Iceland and at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste, Saarbrücken. Since 2006, numerous scholarships, awards (most recently the Albert Weisgerber Prize), competitions, solo exhibitions and participation in exhibitions in galleries, art galleries and museums have taken her to Germany, France, Luxembourg, Iceland, Sweden and Finland.

Many sculptures have found a permanent place in public spaces, for example in Saarbrücken or Reykjavik.
