In his art, Tugyan Cengic strives to connect with the unadulterated in order to return to something essential.

Given the enormous flood of images and information in today's world, the boundaries between authentic first-hand experiences and mere second-hand experiences and information are becoming increasingly blurred.

This is especially true since even memories of intense personal experiences can be fleeting and blurred. And there are many intense memories in the life of this young artist, whose childhood was shaped by impressive experiences on three continents.

Tugyan Cengic therefore deliberately uses blurring as a stylistic device.

This painting technique, already named and developed by Leonardo da Vinci as "sfumato", which is a precursor to abstraction, creates scope for associations, interpretations and new thoughts in painting.

In this way, despite their compositional density, his paintings have something open and floating about them.

He has the gift of capturing something timeless, something that remains.

Born in 1998, Tugyan Cengic spent his childhood and early youth with his Turkish parents in Abuja, Nigeria, where his early interest in art began. He was 15 years old when his family moved to Germany.

After completing his schooling and studying economics at Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, he established himself as a freelance artist in Berlin.
